The John Pfeiffer Duo - The Tom Powell and John Pfeiffer Duo has been booked regularly at The Seasons Restaurant, who was awarded the Post-Crescent "Golden Fork Award" for best music while dining in 2006 and 2007.  In this setting, we play jazz swing, ballads and Latin jazz, featuring myself on guitar and Tom alternating playing on trombone and fretless bass, and vocals as appropriate for the atmosphere.  Many term this music as mainstream jazz, drawn from the "Great American Songbook" of the last century to the present.  We are very much tuned into setting the mood and not over-powering volume.  We have played in living rooms or "out on the patio" and we play your requests.  We will also "kick it up" with an entire songbook of country, rock, blues, and oldies, with Tom also playing acoustic and electric guitars and featuring our duo harmonies.

We occasionally use a drum machine or some pre-recorded backing tracks we have prepared.  This is an off and on thing for us; it fills in our sound but limits our artistic expression.  After all, they are machines.

The John Pfeiffer Trio - Other players that regularly play in the duo are Bill Ott and Roger Teske, both bassists that are also available for trio work.  Bill also plays piano.  Roger is an accomplished singer and leader of the band "Easy Pieces".  Other players include Jim Faz on piano and vocals, Frank Nelsen on bass and vocals, and Joe Maas on drums.  

The John Pfeiffer Band - A larger ensemble is called upon for performances and special events.  In these instances the band line-up varies and will include: drums, keyboards or piano, additional horns, and featured singers.  The event or performance drives the make-up of the band and also the music selection, many times selected specifically for the event.

Trainwreck (the band) - For good times music, don't forget to visit "Other Bands" under the "My Music" menu, featuring TrainWreck (the band) and others.
